Air Jordan Retro 1 High Royal

Air Jordan Retro 1 High Royal

Release Date 4/01/2017

Get ready Jordan fans, this weekend brings us another Air Jordan release! For this weekends release, Jordan brand is bringing out the Air Jordan Retro 1 High Royal, which made its first debut way back in 1985.

The Air Jordan 1 is no stranger to off-the-court athletes. Probably one of the most iconic silhouettes from the Jordan era, it has been a part of not only basketball culture, but skateboarding and BMX culture as well.

Most notably is when Nike SB and Jordan brand teamed up back in 2014 to create the “Lance Mountain” Air Jordan 1. Lance Mountain, for those of you who don’t know, was a professional skateboard rider for the famous Bones Brigade. Back in the 80’s, he was known to skate in Air Jordan 1’s due to the extra protection they offered.

Went a little off topic for a bit, but these history lessons never hurt. Back to the J’s!

Nike / Jordan brand has been going hard this month with the recent releases of the retro and new Air Max models. We can see why the brand is still a force to be reckoned with, but that is not all Nike / Jordan has to offer…. Don’t forget about the upcoming Jordan 4 x Kaws coming out on the 31st of this month. I think it’s safe to say that Nike / Jordan brand won’t be going anywhere in the near future.

KAWS Capsule x Air Jordan Retro 4

Kaws Capsule x Air Jordan Retro 4

Release Date 3/31/2017

The Kaws Capsule x Air Jordan retro 4 is finally coming out this month! After a few rumors earlier in the year, we finally have a release date for the Jordan 4.  On top of that, Nike PR Director Heidi Burgett recently revealed the official release date PLUS the full set of gear that is dropping alongside the retro 4.

If you don’t know, this isn’t the first time legendary graffiti artist Kaws has teamed up with Nike. But it is the first time Kaws gets to work with the Jordan brand. The expected retail price for the shoe is estimated at $350, although we will have a better price value closer to the release date.

Now to the details of the Kaws Jordan 4…

At first glance, you see the shoe is completely covered in a cool grey suede that flows all throughout. If the $350 price point is correct, that suede better be damn buttery!  If you take a closer look, you see silver lined “Kaws Hands” that seem to be stitched onto the shoe. These also flow throughout the whole shoe. On the back of the heel tab, another Kaws staple: the infamous double XX log, which sits above the Air branding. The inside of the tongue will feature a stitched Kaws and Air Jordan patch and the Kaws branding doesn’t stop there…

You will also see his work on the insole and shoe box.  Lets not forget the crystal blue sole on the shoe that fits the grey color scheme so well. If you’re feeling this Retro Jordan 4, keep your eyes locked onto the SNKRS app for more information.

Nike Atmos Air Max 1 Is Back!

Nike Atmos Air Max 1

“The Chosen 1”

The Nike Atmos Air Max 1 is returning!  Voted back during last year’s Air Max day, you now have a chance to own the infamous Atmos Elephant AM 1.

First, a quick history lesson.  In 2006, Tokyo-based Atmos took on the challenge to make the Air Max more “exciting.”  Atmos director, Hirofumi Kojima, wanted to do something “crazy!”  …What was his idea?

An Air Max with animal print.  At the time, nobody had ever done such a thing on the silhouette. What better way to do this than using the Jordan 3 elephant skin?  Hirofumi saw the elephant skin as “the symbol of modern street life”.  Which again, at the time, was very true.

Next “crazy” idea was adding the jade color to the shoe.  Hirofumi Kojima picked the jade color based on the idea of an elephant splashing water.  And wow….something so simple as a well thought out new color makes the Nike Atmos Air Max 1 entire colorway work!

If you missed the original release, now is your chance to pick up one of the greatest Air Max 1’s ever made. You will have two chances to pick this shoe up on Saturday, 3/18/2017.  1st, the Air Max pack release, which includes the Atmos AM1 and a Jordan 3 Safari.  And 2nd, the single release of the shoe on the SNKRS app plus many other online retailers.

Nike Air Max Day 2017

Nike Air Max Day 2017

Good news Nike heads, Nike Air Max day 2017 is approaching! If you remember last year, Nike had a dedicated site running the “Vote Back” poll.  This allowed many Nike fans to place their votes for an AM1 model that they want to see reissued on Air Max Day, the following year.

Votes were counted and verdict is in: we get to see the reissue of the “Atmos” Air Max 1.  Which I am personally excited about since this model is in my personal top 5 favorite AM1 colorways.

Now onto the rest of the Air Max releases in celebration of Air Max day. As you can see from the image above, Nike will be releasing a total of 8 Air Max sneakers. Most notably are the “Atmos”, “Air Max 1 Masters” and the debut of the Nike Air Vapormax silhouette. If you’re not feeling any these, then how about a classic?

Nike will be releasing one of the original Air Max 1 colorways that started it all, given a very appropriate name, the Air Max 1 “Anniversary”. This OG colorway takes us back to 1987 when the Tinkerfield first gave us a look at Nike Air Technology.  See the full Air Max day line up below.

Adidas Sneaker Exchange is back with a March release! This time around, Kith x Naked team up to bring us the latest offering in the Adidas Sneaker Exchange program: the brand new NMD City Sock 2. Kith and Naked will introduce us to the new NMD silhouette with two colorways: sandstone & pink.

Both of the colorways will have a melange Primeknit upper, with the three stripe branding running up the middle of the sneakers. Both colorways will also feature an all leather heel pull-tab, with Kith and Naked branding running the length of the pull-tab. The Kith x Naked NMD will release at….you guessed it: Kith and Naked retail locations as well as their online shops.

I will be 100% honest with you guys, I’m not feeling this collab at all. The colors work great, both companies have had great projects with Adidas in the past….but this new NMD silhouette is boring.  Not to mention, it reminds me of grandma’s slip on. If you’re a fan of the collab or the new silhouette, be sure to follow Kith and Naked on social media to stay up-to-date with release information.
